Annual Awards and Grants

Student and Early Career Council Dissertation Research Funding Awards
Funding awards of up to $2,000 USD to SRCD student members for dissertation research proposals that display strong potential to contribute to the field of child development. Call for submissions are posted in the spring.

Grants of up to $7,500 USD are awarded on a competitive basis for research projects that reflect SRCD’s commitment to supporting the scholarship of tomorrow’s leaders. Call for submissions are posted in the winter.

Fellowships

SRCD U.S. Policy Fellowship Program
SRCD's  U.S. Policy Fellowship program offers immersive opportunities for researchers to learn about policy development, implementation, and evaluation, and how to use developmental science to inform public policy in a federal or state agency, or in the U.S. Congress. Calls for submissions are posted in the fall.

Early Career Interdisciplinary Scholars Fellowship Program 
This program provides an opportunity for early career scholars in relevant fields outside of psychology/human development to participate in the SRCD Biennial Meeting. There, they will work with a senior mentor from the field of developmental scientist and connect other interdisciplinary scholars. Call for applications are announced in even-numbered years, prior to the SRCD Biennial Meeting, where the program takes place.

The Towards 2044: Horowitz Early Career Scholar Program takes its name from the year when the adult population of the United States is estimated to become a diverse majority. SRCD is excited to support the professional development of a diverse group of researchers as we move towards this new period.

Scholar-in-Residence Program 
The Scholar-in-Residence Program allows for SRCD members who anticipate a leave or sabbatical to work in the SRCD Washington D.C. offices to complete a project, while providing meaningful interactions with the SRCD staff and governance.

Patrice L. Engle Dissertation Grants for Global Early Child Development 
Grants of $5,000 USD to provide support for junior students interested in a career in global early child development who are from or doing research in low- or middle-income countries.

AERA-SRCD Early Career Research Fellowship in Middle Childhood Education and Development 
Theis fellowship provides a 2-year collaborative opportunity for early career scholars to participate in a research network focused on middle childhood education and development. The purpose of this initiative is to build an early career cohort of scholars with integrative interests and expertise at the nexus of child development and formal/informal education and learning in their broader social context.

The Teaching Mentorship Program assists novice or early-career teachers in navigating faculty life through developing a relationship with a more experienced faculty member, or mentor, from another institution.

The SRCD Scholar Development Program (SDP) aims to bolster opportunities for both research funding and professional leadership among early- to mid-career Black/African American faculty. The program provides a set of targeted mentoring activities addressing academic leadership and NIH research funding.
