SRCD’s Office for Policy and Communications in Washington, DC attends to all five goals articulated in SRCD’s strategic plan, but focuses especially on the goal that, “SRCD will be recognized for its dissemination of research-based knowledge to inform research priorities, public policy, professional and educational practice, and the broader public.” To this end, the Office directs the SRCD Policy Fellowships Program; holds policy-relevant meetings and briefings; disseminates monthly Policy Updates in addition to briefs summarizing the SRCD Social Policy Report and selected research from other SRCD publications; and serves as the external communications arm of SRCD, communicating knowledge about child development research to the media and broader public. The office is advised by the SRCD Committee on Policy and Communications.
