SRCD signed on to a Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) letter addressed to Senate and House leadership that expresses CNSF’s appreciation for their decision to conference the Senate US Innovation and Competition Act (USICA) with related House measures, including the National Science Foundation (NSF) for the Future Act. The letter also calls for an increased investment in NSF to maintain the United States’ global competitiveness.

The letter notes, “CNSF, a coalition of organizations united in support for strong and sustained funding for the NSF, respectfully urges that you ensure that the final conference report1 includes robust sustainable growth in authorized funding for both existing NSF programs – including research, education, and infrastructure efforts across all areas of science and engineering – as well as for a proposed new directorate. Funding levels for NSF have not been authorized since 2013, and strong authorization legislation for all components of NSF will provide guidance for future programs and establish bipartisan targets for appropriations in later years.”

The Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) is an alliance of professional organizations, scientific societies, universities, and businesses united in their advocacy for the National Science Foundation (NSF). The Society for Research in Child Development is a CNSF member.
