• Session Description:
  First-time Biennial attendees are welcome to join this reception to learn how to maximize their conference experience. Since the first meeting held in 1934, SRCD has hosted a Biennial meeting on odd-numbered years for its members and the developmental science community. Through its Biennial meetings, which draw attendees from countries throughout the world, SRCD strives to meet the goal of understanding child development through research while serving as a network and forum for its members and attendees, as stated in SRCD’s strategic goals. Members and attendees include professionals and graduate students in psychology, human development, family studies, education, public policy, sociology, social work, psychiatry, pediatrics, and public health. Attendance at the Biennial meetings averages 4,500 people.

• All attendees are invited to join SRCD’s President Vonnie C. McLoyd as she and the SRCD25 Program Co-Chairs (Andrew J. Fuligni, Ph.D. and Diane Hughes, Ph.D.) welcomes you during the opening remarks. Be sure to attend as they sets the stage for the next three days!

3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. | SRCD25 Invited Keynote Talk (Minneapolis Convention Center | Auditorium (Main)

Dr. Raj Chetty is the William A. Ackman Professor of Economics at Harvard University and the Director of Opportunity Insights, which uses big data to study the science of economic opportunity: how we can give children from all backgrounds better chances of succeeding.  Dr. Chetty’s work has been widely cited in academia, media outlets, and policy discussions in the United States and beyond. 

Dr. Chetty received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2003 and is one of the youngest tenured professors in Harvard’s history. He has received numerous awards for his research, including a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, the John Bates Clark medal, given to the economist under 40 whose work is judged to have made the most significant contribution to the field, and Harvard’s George Ledlie prize, awarded for research that made the most valuable contribution to science, or in any way for the benefit of mankind.

In celebration of the SRCD Latinx Caucus 200th anniversary as a Caucus, SRCD is hosting a “Pachanga” to celebrate! ¡Vamos a celebrar! SRCD Latinx Caucus 20th Anniversary Pachanga: A 20 Year Anniversary Event will celebrate the past, present, and future of the SRCD Latinx Caucus. There will be food, music, dancing, and so many reasons to celebrate!
